MILLER, Robert Earl
Ocala - Robert Earl Miller, 79, passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2019. He was born August 20, 1939, in Van Lear, KY, to Eddrel Miller and Ethel Soard Miller. He graduated from Kewanee High School (IL) in 1957, then moved to Elkhart, IN. He was part of the Indiana National Guard (1963-1968), then joined the Elkhart County Sheriff’s department as a patrolman. He moved to Ocala, Florida in 1980. He worked in prison industries for many years as a sales representative.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; son, Steve Miller; daughters, Renee Miller and Candice "Candie" Strandberg; stepsons David (Sean) Freeman and John (Theron) Proctor; brothers, Ed Miller, Tony Miller (Maggie); sisters, Madonna Chappell, Joyce Bennett, sisters-in-law Ruth Simms and Linda Gillis; seven grandchildren, Sarah Barton, Matthew Baumgardner, Alexi Strandberg, Levi Strandberg, Jena Miller, Jasmine Miller, Mason Miller; step-grandchildren Tori (Jesse) Daniels, Tylor Freeman and Andrew Freeman, three great-grandchildren, Carsyn, Brendyn and Trent; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, half-sister Patricia, parents-in-law Ruby and Jim Lawry, brother-in-law Wayne Gillis, and several aunts and uncles.
Bob was a member of Marion-Dunn Masonic Lodge (joined Masons in Elkhart, IN in 1965), Scottish Rites, Jacksonville Morocco Shrine Temple, Ocala Shrine Club (served terms as third, second and first vice president), Ocala Shrine Club Motorcycle Unit, and Ocala Elk’s Lodge. He enjoyed golf, fishing, riding his motorcycle, traveling and spending time with family. He was a beloved father, husband, grandfather, caregiver and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Countryside Funeral Home, Anthony, FL. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2019 at Countryside Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Citra Cemetery, Citra, FL.
