Agnes " Bunny " Kulhavy  Bobak

Bunny Bobak, aged 92, peacefully went to be with the Lord in her sleep on Friday Jan. 8th, 2016 in Ocala, Florida. The sixth of seven daughters of immigrant parents, she was born near Sharon, Pa on May 2nd 1923.  Her five older sisters thought the young Agnes looked like a cute, newly-born bunny rabbit and the nickname stuck the rest of her life. Her early life revolved around the farm, where she was raised, her school friends and  the local Slovak Church of God, where their family attended. While attending one of the annual Slovak Camp meetings, she met a young man, whom she would later marry: John Bobak. Having graduated from High School in 1942, she immediately entered employment in a World War II industry factory.

After the war in 1946, she married John Bobak, her husband of 69 and 1/2 years and helped him toward his goal of getting a degree to become a minister of the Gospel. Since John had to drop out of school at age 16 to support his parent's family, Bunny had to assist his academic projects at Anderson College, as well as take care of the their young daughter, born in 1950. During the next eight years John and Bunny pastored at two churches in Indiana and welcomed another daughter and one son. The family then moved first to Kentucky and then were invited to minister in Florida, where Bunny became a school secretary to suppliment  the family income. She was an active mother and worker in the Palatka, Fla church.  20thWith their two older children either married or move away and the 3rd graduating High School, John and Bunny accepted the call to pastor at Royal Chapel near Hickory, N.C.   After five years there, they retired from the ministry for the first time to take care of John's aged parents, who had followed them to NC. John continued to help out the NC Church of God State organization while Bunny was very active at Royal Chapel with both the Children's and Women's ministries. She also expanded upon her hobby of crafts and sewing.  In 1986 John and Bunny were called out of retirement to Pastor the Black Mountain Church of God. They retired a 2nd time, but filled their time with volunteer service to the church and community.  Bunny blessed many more lives by helping sponsor  inmates from the local Women's Prison. While in their 80's the couple moved to Ocala, Florida to be near their two daughters. They both continued to volunteer at church and pursue their hobbies until health prevented such. John passed away on Nov. 20th 2015 and she followed him six weeks later.....peacefully in her sleep. Bunny always had her welcome mat out and the Bobak's hospitality gained them life-long friends everywhere they lived.

Bunny is survived by two daughters: Doreen McRae of Ocala,Fla;  Nadine Long of Palatka, Fla.: one son, Rodney Bobak of Morganton, N,C,: six Grandchildren; Kelle McRae Boyer, Mark McRae, Justin Long, Katie Long, Sarah Bobak and Jonelle Bobak: six great-grand children, Kayla McRae, Micah McRae, Mya McRae, Katherine Boyer, Nathan Boyer and Brandon Boyer: her younger sister, Ruth Kulhavy Rucek.
