Ocala – Aivars V. (Matt) Matiss, 80, passed away June 5, 2016. Born June 29, 1935 in Liepaja, Latvia to Zelma and Villibals Matiss. He was a Supervising Electrical Engineer for the University of Central Florida. Aivars enjoyed gardening, walking, and serving at First United Methodist Church in Ocala,FL. He is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice Eller Matiss. Sister and brother in-law, Mara and Virgil Halweg, 2 nieces, 1 nephew, Omaha, NE, brother in-laws Bill Eller,GA, Jessie Eller Ocala,FL, and sister in-law Virginia Bowman,CT, 3 nephews, 3 nieces.
Memorial Service will be 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2016 at Ocala Oaks, with Pastor John Few officiating. Arrangements under the care of Countryside Funeral Home.
