Arthur "Poppy" Somner

July 6, 1935 — February 15, 2024

After receiving compassionate care from Hospice of Marion County,

Arthur Somner, a Navy veteran, passed away on February 15, 2024.

A resident of Ocklawaha, Florida, Arthur was born on July 6 1935 in

Manhattan, New York. His strong Christian faith drove him to unselfishly

live for others. He loved to make people smile and sought opportunities

to help others in need. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend

Gladys Sullivan Somner; a daughter, Jill Dunston and her husband Chris.

He also had 3 grandchildren (Tyler, Jayna & Juliana) and 1 great

grandchild. He will forever be in the hearts and memories of his family

and friends. Countryside Funeral Home has been entrusted with the

cremation arrangements.
