Mrs. Barbara Bledsoe Roberts, 85 passed away Monday evening, November 28, at Sylvia’s Hospice Home, following a period of declining health and an illness of one week.  She was born on November 25, 1931 in Winston-Salem, NC, the daughter of John Eaton and Marion Marcella Fulp Bledsoe. She attended Southern Home Old Regular Baptist Church. She was a retired supervisor in the Military Traffic  Management Command for the US Army in Charleston, SC. During her career with this group she received numerous awards for meritorious service and the presence of several Army general officers at her retirement ceremonies bore witness to the respect that she had while performing these duties. She had previously worked as night supervisor at Southern Bell Telephone Company in Winston-Salem.  She loved to play cards, mahjong, and bingo. She particularly enjoyed traveling and visited Australia and Europe several times. Italy was her favorite place to visit.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Betty Sue Bledsoe Platt, brothers, Richard, Phillip, and Mac Bledsoe and her grandson, Travis Modlin.

Surviving are her children, Colleen and Elder Bill Adair, Sr., Robin and Dave Powell, Steve and Mary Roberts, and Art and Shirley Roberts; Brothers, Jack and Lisa Bledsoe, and Wayne and Debbie Bledsoe, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Friday, December 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Southern Home Old Regular Baptist Church with Elder William A. Adair, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Countryside Funeral Home in Ocala.
