On September 7, 2021, Barbara “Barb” Lee Yonce (maiden name: Kelley), loving wife, mother, sister and friend, closed her eyes on this earth and opened them in the presence of her Savior at the age of 62. She was born November 14, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan where she resided until moving to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida as an adult.
On October 6, 1984, she married the love of her life, Roger Yonce, at Secret Woods Nature Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. A few years later, they moved to Citra, Florida where they raised two amazing children, their son Jonathon and then their daughter, Courtney; both tremendously loved and adored. Barb was also “Mother-in-love” to Kaley and “Mimi” to her granddaughter Ireland, whom she loved very much. Barb was also one of seven siblings from blended families and her siblings included Judy, Michael, Randy, Kathy, Deb and David.
Barb worked for the Marion County School System for 19 years. She was full of kindness and compassion, mixed with a childlike heart and a mischievous spirit, so that all who knew her loved and admired her. No matter if she was busy raising funds or volunteering, she was always engaging people and she lit up any room that she entered. She will be truly missed.
In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to the Tim Tebow Foundation which goes towards Night to Shine. Barb volunteered multiple times for the Night to Shine event and it was incredibly close to her heart. A Celebration of Life will be at a future date in mid-Autumn 2021.
