Ocala Florida - Joyce Richards Potter, 81, passed away peacefully March 30, 2018 at home. Betty Joyce Wilson was born June 8, 1936, in Pontiac, Michigan to Sadie Catherine Allington Wilson and Robert Langford Wilson.
Joyce's life focus was predominantly on family, home and God. She was a devoted wife to both Dwight Berkin Richards (deceased 1/10/2004) and then to Timothy Floyd Potter, and a loving mother and grandmother. Joyce's professional life included flower arranging, selling real estate, and teaching cooking classes. She was a talented artist, gardener, cook, interior designer and enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. In addition to her family, her love of God was most important to her. She was an active member of First Church of Christ Scientist, Ocala, and The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, MA.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy Floyd Potter of Ocala, Florida; son and daughter in law, Robert Thomas and Judith Fletcher Richards of Leesburg, Virginia; daughter and son in law, Debra Richards Tatnall of Norfolk, Massachusetts and George Richardson Tatnall of Wrentham, Massachusetts; and 4 grandchildren including Jane Independence Richards of New York City, NY; Anne Elizabeth Richards of Rockledge, Florida; Sara Richardson Tatnall of Belgrade, Montana; and Amy Wilson Tatnall of Dedham, Massachusetts.
A 'Celebration of Life' service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 2:00 pm at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 209 SE 36th Ave., Ocala, FL 34471. A reception will be held nearby following the service at 1912 SE 38th Court.
