BeWye Delos Carr

June 10, 1947 — October 3, 2024

BeWye Delos Carr, a resident of Ocala, Florida, passed away on October 3, 2024. He was born on June 10, 1947, in Spring Valley, New York. He was the eldest son of Charles M. Carr and Isobel Carr.

BeWye enlisted in the United States Army in 1966 and served until his honorable discharge in 1969. During his military service, he was deployed to Korea during the Vietnam War. After being discharged he served another 6 years in the Army Reserve.

Following his discharge from the military, BeWye worked for Mock Brothers Automotive Paint and Supply in Ashland, Kentucky, before being laid off. This prompted his family to relocate to Belleview, Florida, where his father, Charles, was residing. In Florida, BeWye started working for Florida Telephone Company, which later became CenturyLink. He retired after 30 years of service and was widely recognized for his contributions to the support of the 911 systems in most of the central Florida counties.

Outside of his professional pursuits, BeWye cultivated a passion for automobiles. He dedicated himself to volunteering for the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) at various events and eventually constructed a street rod that he and his wife, Judy Ann (DeBord) Carr, utilized to travel to National Street Rod Association (NSRA) events. In recent years, he became involved with the Gainesville Street Rods, where he provided musical accompaniment for their monthly car show.

BeWye is preceded in death by his father, Charles Murray Carr, mother, Isobel Watters Carr, sister, Lydia Lee Carr, and brother, Duane Marshal Carr.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Ann (DeBord) Carr, son, Eric Shawn Carr (spouse Jacob Rush), daughter, Angela Kay (Carr) Schmal, and grandson, Brandon Ashley Schmal (spouse Macie Butler Schmal). A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The arrangements for BeWye’s cremation have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home.
