Bobby Gene Dempsey, age 83, of Ocala, Fl. passed away on February 7, 2023, at
home. He was born on May 8, 1939 in Lithia Springs, Georgia a son to the late
James Allen and Mary Marie (James) (Dempsey) Eison.
Bobby was a retired Senior Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy serving
20 years as a submarine sailor. He was stationed on several submarines including
USS Skipjack, USS Amberjack and USS Pickerel. Upon retirement he obtained his
Master’s Electrician license. When he retired, he worked at the shipyard in
Norfolk, VA. Then he moved to Ga at worked at City of Atlanta as an instructor. He
started his own business called DMC Electrical. The last job he held was a
professor teaching the National Code for the Electrical program at Marion Tech
Community College. He also volunteered countless hours doing electrical work for
his church and family and friends.
His greatest passion was teaching Sunday School to the adults at the several
churches he attended including Gateway Free Will Baptist Church in Va. Beach,
VA. Memorial Baptist Church in Ocala, FL. Ocala Baptist Temple in Ocala, FL. and
finally at Berean Baptist Church in Ocala, FL.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years Carolyn Elizabeth (Bender)
Dempsey. He has a son Robert Rueben Dempsey, wife Cyndi Warren Dempsey of
Telford, TN., and Twin Daughters Cynthia Joy (Dempsey) Lowry of Ocala, FL. and
Cathy Jean (Dempsey) Hall, husband Patrick Von Hall of Wilmington, NC. Bobby
was preceded in death by a beloved brother, Benny Allen (Pedro) Dempsey, a
sister, Betty Ann (Dempsey) George. He has 2 living brothers, James Franklin (Bill)
Dempsey in Phoenix, AZ and Walter Terry Eison in Loganville, GA. He has 8
grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren with 2 soon to be here. And many nieces
and nephews.
Funeral Services have been scheduled for Saturday February 11, 2023 at Berean Baptist Church for 2:00pm. A graveside service will be held in Stone Mountain , Georgia at 1:00pm at the Melwood Cemetery on Monday February 13, 2023.
