Bonnie L. Thacker

Bonnie L Thacker, age 79, ran into the arms of Jesus on January 30, 2024 after bravely battling Alzheimer's. She was born a spirited middle child to her coal miner father, Cecil Gilliam and homemaker mother Eunice Gilliam in Pike County KY on July 16, 1944.  A daddy's girl who lost her father at 17 she moved to Chicago to find work.  There she met a handsome gentleman named Kermit Thacker who also happened to be from the same small town in KY. Though her being 8 years younger than him they ironically had never met until the Windy City. They married on May 29, 1964. The young couple eventually settled in Defiance Ohio where Kermit worked for GM and Bonnie spent about 20 years at Campbell's Soup. They were blessed with three daughters, and one son.  Tamatha (Scott) Lehman of Ocala, FL; Denise (Tim) Miller of Ocala, FL; Crystal Thacker of Ocala, FL and Matthew Thacker of Ocala, FL.  They also have eight grandchildren, Zac, Tyler, Alesha, Brooke, Breanna, Brittany, Brayden & Ava. Plus one great granddaughter Lily. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Kermit, her parents, one sister and one brother. Bonnie cherished her family; her flighty, winsomeness combined with a deep wisdom is impossible to capture in words. She lived, loved and forgave fully, giving generously; sharing her deep incredible passion for Jesus along the way. A celebration of her life will be held at Countryside Funeral Home, Anthony Florida, Visitation Friday evening February 2nd 5-7, Service Saturday February 3rd 2:00 pm.
