FINNEY, CARLA ELAINE
Ocala - Carla Elaine Finney, 61, formerly of Orlando FL, died from complications of breast cancer on Sunday, October 8th, 2017 at her home. Born in Tampa, Elaine was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Nancy (Combs) Finney. For many years the family operated Finney Construction in Ocala, before relocating to Orlando. Elaine received special recognition from HOPS for her assistance in establishing the Ocala Historic District. She returned to Ocala earlier this year after retiring as Associate Producer with Chappell Entertainment.
Surviving is her niece, Rebecca Finney Robinson of Oxford FL, her grandnephew Marty Waite Jr. of Pompano Beach FL, and many close family friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Cheryl Dianne Finney.
Elaine loved to laugh, travel, and entertain through music and acting. While in Orlando, she enjoyed directing the drama ministry for St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. Elaine also appeared in various stage, film and Disney productions. Highlights of her life included traveling with the Singlive choral group and performing at The Vatican, Royal Albert Hall, and then Carnegie Hall with the Garden Choir. An avid Beatle fan, she loved touring England and seeing every Beatle related landmark she could find. Elaine had the opportunity to meet celebrities like Jay Leno, Robin Williams and Jim Belushi, and was always ready for any new adventure life brought her way!
A Celebration of Love and Laughter will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 3:00 pm at the Grace Episcopal Church Parish House located at 503 SE Broadway St, Ocala FL.
