Micanopy – Catherine Dolores Jacob passed away on January 1, 2016. Born March 10, 1922, in Roosevelt, NY to Katherine Dahl and Anthony Marino, she shared her father’s love of Florida, relocating here in 1969. A veteran of World War II, she was a First Lieutenant in the US Army, serving as a nurse in the Philippines and New Guinea. She was a RN for over 50 years and a founding member of the coronary intensive care unit at Malcom Randall VA Hospital. Preceded by her husband Elmer Jacob and son Thomas, she is survived by her son, Jonathan Marino Jacob and daughter-in-law Faith Ann Jacob, Micanopy; daughter, Mary Jane Jacob and son-in-law Russell L. Lewis, Jr., Chicago; and two grandchildren, Joseph Jonathan Jacob of Triple J. Motors, Ocala and Clayton Lewis, Bethany, PA. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 5 at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 11020 NW Hwy 320, Micanopy 32667 with Father Julien of St. Patrick’s Church officiating. Reception to follow. Interment in Shiloh Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 500 NE 16th Ave., Gainesville 32601.
