It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Celvin McCoy Spears, beloved father, grandfather, and friend. He passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at the age of 84, surrounded by his family. Celvin was a quiet man of faith with a great character, a hard worker, a grill master, and a culinary artist. His greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends, supporting his grandchildren in school and athletic endeavors. His legacy of reliability and devotion was beautifully captured by his grandson Brayden, who said, "Grandpa is the most reliable person I know."
He proudly dedicated 43 years to Publix Supermarkets, where he served as a regional manager in the produce division. He was highly regarded for his work ethic and commitment. Celvin will be deeply missed. He leaves behind countless memories and an enduring legacy of unwavering love, kindness, integrity, and service to others that will forever be treasured.
Celvin is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” Spears, and his parents, Clifton and Louise Spears. He leaves behind a family who profoundly cherishes his memory, including his sons: Celvin Chad Spears (Lina), Chris Spears (Kelley), Scott Allen Spears (Kelly), and Clifton Earl Spears (Lynn); his sisters, Betty and Sherry; and his grandchildren: Josh, Savannah, Saylor, Brayden, and Marianna; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home. Celvin’s life was a testament to faith, love, and family—a legacy that will forever be treasured.
