Charles F. Santrock, 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 19, 2021 in Silver Springs, FL. He was born July 17, 1932 in Nitro, West Virginia to Homer Herbert Sr. and Vada Macil Deal. Charles “Charlie” Santrock was a longtime resident of Newport News and York County, Virginia, before moving to Florida to enjoy retirement. Mr. Santrock served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He went on to excel at many jobs, including management, sales, and maintenance. Mr. Santrock enjoyed life to the fullest, and was happiest gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters Bea, Vada Lee, Isabelle, Marie, Jackie, Shirley, Homer Jr, James, and Robert; youngest son Douglas Santrock; and great-great grandson Colton Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Woodruff Santrock; sister Helen Burnside (Hometown, WV); sons, Timothy (Tina) Santrock, Eugene Santrock, Daniel (Robin) Santrock; daughter Lea Ann (Harvey) Day; stepson Mark (Shelley) Fetty; stepdaughter Cara (Jim) Zimmerman; grandchildren Timothy (Erika) Santrock Jr, Melissa (LeeRoye) Moore, Amy (Josh) Heilig, Tasha Santrock, Envira (John) Knierim, Brandon (Melinda) Reeves, Christopher Reeves, Jennifer (Michael) Androyna, Danielle (Steve) Tudor, Amber Corley, Douglas Santrock Jr, and Ashley Braham; Steve Lindsey, Justin (Brandi) Lindsey, Michael (Sherri) Lindsey, Kimberly (Ray) Davis, great grandchildren Elijah, Ethan, Zoe, Liam; Andrew, Dominic; Devin, Ryan; Robert, Grace, Jay-Paul, Madeline; Liam, Luke, Lyle; Dianne, Neil, Brittany; Kayla; Trevor, Chandler, Chase; Stevye, Kobie, Shane, Krystyn, Madilynn, Leigha, Bryson, Nevaeh; Nikki, Nathan, Connor; Zayden, Brooklyn, Gracie; great great grandchildren Peyten, Cayten, Carolina, Chloe; Dawsyn, Carson; Jaiden; Kori; EJ; Joshua, and friends and chosen family too numerous to count.
A memorial to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held at a later date. The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Marion County.
