Charlotte Clifton

Charlotte Ann Clifton, 90, passed away on October 10, 2018.   She was born February 4, 1928, in Youngsville, Pennsylvania, to Archie and Harriet Kingsley. She graduated from Youngsville High School and soon after married Howard James Clifton on May 30, 1946.

Charlotte was a business woman and owned her own beauty shop in Warren, PA. After moving to Ocala in the early 1970's, she taught cosmetology at several schools, including Central Florida Community College. During that time, Charlotte and her husband worked together to build Clifton’s Mobile City (now named Cliftwood).

Charlotte was active in the First Church of the Nazarene in Warren, Pennsylvania, and the First Church of the Nazarene in Ocala, Florida.  Charlotte also attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ocala with her daughter, Carol. Also, Charlotte helped with Blankets of Blessing at the Bread of Life Church in Anthony, Florida. For a time, she was involved with the Ocala Art Group and won awards for her paintings. She also enjoyed knitting, quilting, embroidering, tatting, and making cinnamon rolls and pecan pies. Her talents were many, and she enjoyed teaching others how to do these things.

Charlotte is survived by her children, James (Cathy) Clifton of Sebastian, FL; daughter Carol (Doug) Fraser of Ocala, FL; grandsons Todd Clifton of Albequerque, NM; Matthew (Deanna) Fraser of Issaquah, WA, and several nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Howard, an infant daughter, grandson Chad D. Fraser, and her sister, Florence Delmont.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 P.M. on October 27, 2018, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 3732 NE 7th St., Ocala, FL., 34470.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charlotte may be made to Hospice of Marion County or Nazarene Compassionate Ministries in care of the Ocala First Church.
