Anthony, FL – Christine Schaeffer passed away at home on May 27, 2016 surrounded by family, friends, and the comforting sounds of gospel music. Born in Orlando, FL on December 26, 1948 to Lawrence and Doris (Perrine) Dunn, Christine was the second of seven children. In her early years, she lived in England and North Africa where her father was stationed with the U.S. Air force. As a "military brat," Christine developed an appreciation for travelling, different cultures, and for the freedoms we are privileged to have here in the United States. She was sensitive to the needs of others - especially those less fortunate, sick, or hurting - and chose a career that reflected her nurturing spirit. After graduating from Oak Ridge High School in 1967, Christine began a rigorous 3-year nursing program at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando, FL. She graduated in 1970, fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a registered nurse. For nearly four decades, she devoted herself to her patients, always having an extra smile or a few more moments to give to those in need. It was clear to all that Christine was born to be a nurse. Her happiest moments in life centered around doing for others.
In addition to nursing, Christine was devoted to her family. She was quick to cook up a pot of her delicious, homemade chicken soup when a loved one was sick or go without sleep to sit at their bedside. She enjoyed family gatherings, trips to Gatlinburg, TN, cruises, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, mega dot-to-dot challenges - and a fresh cup of coffee with lots of cream! She was a lifelong fan and collector of Elvis and Princess Diana memorabilia. Her home was also filled with an assortment of teddy bears and angels, and she'd adorn her greeting cards to others with stickers of these things she loved. Christine was a kindhearted, good soul, who loved the Lord and looked to Him for strength and guidance throughout her life. She touched many lives along the way with her warm and generous heart.
Christine is preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Dunn and Lynn Lowrey, and her father, Lawrence Dunn. She is survived by her son, Forrest Price (Sanford, FL); her daughter, Robin Heintzelman (Ocala, FL); her mother, Doris Dunn (Groveland, FL); one brother, Lawrence "Skip" Dunn, II (Perry, FL); three sisters, Kathy Rasmussen (Norman, OK), Laurie Harrison (Anthony, FL) and Mary Malys (Groveland, FL) and seven grandchildren, Riley Price, Heather-Lee, Jessica-Taylor, Emma-Grace, John-Henry, Bobbi-Jo, and Christopher-John Heintzelman. Christine also shared a special bond with her grandnephew Jacob Bell.
