Corde Johnson

OCALA- Corde Elizabeth Johnson of Ocala, was welcomed into Heaven on January 29th, 2022 at the age of 91. She was born on January 9th, 1931 in Bronx, New York to Joseph R. St. Laurent and Bernice Pell.  Corde and her family moved to Brevard County in the mid 1960’s, from there she moved to Ocala in 1989.  Corde had a great love for the space program.  She had a fulfilling career working as an administrative assistant at the space center.

Corde loved people, never met a stranger and always treated people with respect.  She was an avid reader, loved to play scrabble, shelling, and camping at Alexander Springs.  Above all, Corde loved her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph St Laurent and Bernice Pell DuBay, her sister Theresa Anderson and sons, Stephen Whitsett and Larry Johnson.

She is survived by her sons David Whitsett, Wayne Whitsett and Michael Johnson(Tammy); daughter, Barbara Henrich(Paul); brother, Joseph St. Laurent(Pam) and sister, Robin DuBay. As well as twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A Memorial Mass celebrating Corde’s life will be held on Thursday, February 17th at 9:00am at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala, FL. The burial will take place at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, FL at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St Jude or your local animal shelter.
