Cynthia Gail Clayton

November 25, 1954 — January 12, 2025

Cynthia “Cindy” Gail Clayton, age 70, of Salt Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully in the care of the E.W. & Lucille Cates House on January 12, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 25, 1954, in Ocala, Florida. Cindy graduated from Forest High School, class of 1972.

She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas Morgan and Shirley McNeal Morgan, and her brother Thomas Morgan, Jr. She leaves behind to carry on her memory her husband of 47 years, Paul Michael Clayton, Sr.; son, Paul Michael Clayton, Jr. (Casey); daughters, Candace Gomez (Jeremy), Ashley Miller (Bryce); grandchildren Darian and Tyrian; brothers, Jeff Morgan, Craig Morgan, Scott Morgan; sister, Lisa Losurdo; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Cindy was a skilled bookkeeper by trade and a true asset to her employers. She loved the ocean and walking along white sand beaches, where she and her husband surfed together in their youth. Gardening, writing, fishing, hunting, reading a good thriller book, and watching scary movies were some of her favorite pastimes. She loved dragonflies and the Tennessee Vols. Imaginative and very funny, she could hardly get most sentences out without breaking into laughter. She was mysterious, creative, compassionate, protective, exciting, and witty.

In the final days of her life, she was asked what she is most proud of, to which she replied, “My children.” She proved time and time again that she was stronger than she gave herself credit for.

Her husband stood by her side through every challenge she faced, never giving up on their commitment and love for each other.

Countryside Funeral Home has been entrusted with the cremation arrangements. A celebration of life will be held in Cindy’s honor at the Ocala Elks Lodge located at 702 NE 25th Ave, on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 at 11:30am, followed by a reception.
