Damon Lewis Arthur, 68, passed away January 12, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 26, 1950 in Bloomington, IN to the late Damon and Elinor Arthur. His father was an attorney and entrepreneur and his mother was a registered nurse. Damon was a retired Telecommunications Engineer and served honorably in the US Army and Vietnam War.
Damon was a loving and devoted father, adoring grandpa and friend to all. He is survived by his daughters, Donna (Chris) Rosa and Christina (Joe) DePalma. He will be dearly remembered as the “Best Grandpa Ever” by his six grandchildren, Luke, Julia, Carina, Isadora, Elena, and Isla. He will be cherished with love by his stepmother, Lucy Arthur and dearest friend, Olive Davis. Damon was predeceased by his parents Damon and Elinor Arthur.
Damon was an avid world traveler and always planning for his next adventure. Vietnam was just the beginning, and since he survived the war, he went on about his life knowing he could survive just about anything. He lived on four continents and traveled to over 30 countries, even as far as Nigeria. Given more time on Earth, his next stop would have been outer space.
Damon rejected materialism and preferred the simple pleasures in life - people and good conversations, but also enjoyed the solitude to unwind with a strong cup of coffee and a good read, especially sci-fi. He found immense joy in taking his grandchildren to the bookstore and out for dessert. He enjoyed watching them play on the playground, explore new places and have fun.
He will be inurned at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. His service will be on February 15, 2019 at 1:15 pm, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
