Denzil Richey

RICHEY, Denzil Courtland

Saint Augustine– Denzil Courtland Richey, 96, passed away February 5, 2018.  He was born January 1, 1922, in Midland, Kentucky to Dudley Jacob Richey and Otha Cleveland Humphrey Richey.  He was many things in his life but the important ones that impacted his life were; a WWII Veteran, a Sargent in Company D, the 749th tank division, an American Baptist Camp Manager in Ohio, and a Road Construction employee in Florida.  But most importantly he will be remembered as being a loving father and husband.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, his wife, Anne Elizabeth White Richey and son Robert Denzil Richey; also his brothers and sisters; Lillian, Paul, Jewel, Zelma, Geraldean, and Bobby Jean. He is survived by his brother, Gaithel (June) Richey; and daughters, Rebecca (Darrell) Nordeen, Debbie (James) Markham and Cynthia Richey.

Denzil was a caring man that many felt joy in being around.  He gave much of his life to the church, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and helped wherever he could.  One thing we hope the Lord will remember is that if there is something that needs to be fixed in heaven, our Dad is the one to call.  He was never happy unless he felt he was improving the world around him through physical repairs, planting of trees, flowers or bushes, or just helping those around him.  He will be sorely missed by all those that have known him on this earth.
