Dorothy Civil Bert

Dorothy Jane (Civil) Bert, 90, passed away on January 28, 2025 in Lecanto, Florida. She was born June 18, 1934 in Cocoa Beach, Florida to Stephen E. Civil and Ruby Mallory.  

For many years she worked at the Journeys End Motel and the Marion Theatre. In 1962 she moved from Anthony to Daytona Beach to be with sister. There she worked at Krystal Restaurant and the Ranch House Restaurant as a shift manager. In 1971 she then moved to Orlando to be closer to daughter where she continued to work at Ranch House. At which point she turned in caregiving in Oveido, Florida. In 1999 she moved back to Ocala and continued being a caregiver until 2013. In 2010 she went to Canyon, Texas to help her brother with his wife after a massive stroke for 2 years.She enjoyed cooking, flowers, traveling by Greyhound buses versus flying.

She is preceded by her parents; brothers, Charles Civil, Franklin Civil and Clifford Civil; sister, Ethel Naylore.  

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra O’Boyle (Larry), Sharon K. Hott; brother, Robert N. Civil; grandchildren, Cathy M. LaMunyan, Steven R. Carris, Alice Rhobaugh, Brian Gillaspie, James Gillaspie; 9 great grandchildren.
