It is with great sadness that the family of Dottie Faye Hilton Wood announces her passing away peacefully at Estelle’s Hospice House after a long battle with cancer on May 30, 2018 at the age of 85. Dottie was surrounded by her husband and her children and was never alone.
Dottie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Bryant and her children, Connie (Gene) Mullis, Linda (Steve) Dean, Susan (Dennis) Strow and Wendy (Chuck) Pratt. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Jamie Mullis, John Bryant Dean, Amanda Schnell, Joshua Dean, and Kaytlyn Pratt, by her great-grandchildren, Olivia Schnell, and Samantha Dean, by her brother, James (Coriene) Hilton, and by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dottie was predeceased by her parents, George and Agnes Hilton, by brothers, Curtis, John and Harmon Hilton and by sisters, Dolly and Tressie.
Dottie was born August 4, 1932, in Spencerville, Oklahoma to George and Agnes Hilton. She later married Bryant Wood, Jr. on November 3, 1950, in Hot Springs, Arkansas while Bryant was in the United States Army. They moved to Ocala, Florida in 1952 and started their family.
Dottie loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She volunteered at Marion Community Hospital (ORMC) for many years, she was very active in the PTA when her children were in school, she was also a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Korean War Veterans and she loved her church, her friends, traveling, cooking and always made everyone feel welcome and a part of her family.
Dottie will be forever remembered by all family members and friends.
A funeral service in memory of Dottie will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at the Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church, 14100 NE HWY 40, Silver Springs, FL 34488 with Pastor Jared Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Ocala, FL.
At the family’s request in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Marion County (Estelle’s House). Arrangements under the care of Countryside Funeral Home, Anthony, FL.
