OCALA- Garrett Martin McElroy, 73, passed away November 4, 2021 in Ocala Florida after a three year fight with cancer. He was born May 31, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Raymond M. McElroy and Alberta Smail. Garrett served in the United States Air Force with pride for his country and American flag. He was an over the road truck driver but his greatest life pride and joy was becoming an owner operator with his son in 1996-2003 (McElroy Transport & S. McElroy Transfer). Then working a few years in Marion County Custodial Services before retirment.
He loved his family, moving three years ago into the apartment of his sons home enjoying them and most of all his great granddaughter Ella-Marie & their dog Dakota.
He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond & Alberta McElroy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Janie McElroy, son Scott McElroy (Jeanne), Granddaughter Rebecca Mitchem & Great Granddaughter Ella-Marie Mitchem. Brother Bruce McElroy (Jan) & sister Bonnie Schall.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, November 19 at 8:30 a.m, at Queen of Peace in Ocala, Florida with Father Patrick O' Doherty officiating. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. in Bushnell, Florida.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice & Veterans Park of Ocala.
