On October 21, 2023, Gary Lewis Hauge entered into the presence of his Savior following a
lengthy battle with health issues.
He was born in Belmond, Iowa on March 25, 1934. He served in the U.S Army and upon
returning from service in Germany, he met and married his beloved wife of 63 years, Marieluise
Henningsen Hauge, in Mason City, Iowa in 1960.
Following their marriage, they relocated to Ocala in 1966. Gary worked as a teacher and later
began a career in social work for the state of Florida, retiring in 1999. He was a long-time
member of the St. Matthew’s Lutheran church in Ocala and enjoyed singing in the choir for
many years.
Gary was a kind and gentle man who loved his many hobbies, visiting with others, and spending
time with his cherished family. He and Marieluise were fortunate to enjoy several trips to
Germany, Norway, and Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Galen and Kathryn Hauge, and his sisters, Cynthia
Wolfram and Susan Tyler. He is survived by his wife, Marieluise, his children Helga (Russell)
Park, Heidi (Stephen) Costello, and Eric (Kristin) Hauge, his grandchildren, Justin (Laura) Park,
Russell Jr, (Marisela) Park, Leslie (Athanasios) Athananson, Ryan (Sierra) Park, Susanna
(Joshua) Lowe, Stephen Costello Jr., Kelly (Marshall) Costello, Brandon (Adiya) Hauge, Austin
(Courtney) Bowen, Aly (Vincent) Picard, his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Rust, Bodhi, Thoren,

Helga (Reinhardt) Henningsen, brother in law, Georg Henningsen, and several beloved nieces
and nephews, and his life long friend, Ramona Holm.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 on Sunday, Oct. 29, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran church. In
lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.
Gary will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
