Gerald Wayne Cooper, age 76, of Fairfield, Florida, passed away on January 6, 2025. He was born on March 16, 1948, in Portsmouth, Ohio a son of Harold and Blanche Cooper

He is preceded by; his parents and a daughter, Denice Garnett (2012).

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 57 years, Marsha Cooper; son, Kevin Cooper (Bien) of Gastonia, North Carolina; brothers, Don Cooper (Kerry Wills) of Sebastian, Florida, David Cooper (Marsha) of Ocala Florida, Jeff Cooper of Oak Hammock, Florida; grandchild, Shannon Garnett of Lexington, Kentucky. As well as 10 beloved nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, and many friends.

Gary was raised in Kentucky and graduated from McKell High School in South Shore, Kentucky. He was a lifelong member of Sunshine Community Church in South Shore, Kentucky. After moving to Florida he enjoyed joining in their online services, even singing with his favorite hymns. He proudly served 2 years in the United States Army, stationed in Vietnam where he earned two purple hearts. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he worked at many occupations, carpenter, owner of the B & C Market, owner of Cooper Dairy Distributor, Florida Pest Control. He enjoyed a game of golf and was an avid woodworker. After retirement, he opened a stall in the local Flea Market to sell his wooden puzzles and signs. He had a personality that enjoyed interacting with people. He was an outgoing and fun-loving person. He was a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky sports and enjoyed hearing that his neighbors mentioned his blue driveway gate, with the UK logo, when giving directions.

A funeral service is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 13, 2025 at noon. at Countryside Funeral Home.
