Gertrude Balducci nee Messina, age 95, passed away on Monday November 30, 2015. Born May 20, 1920 in her home in Orange, New Jersey, she resided with her beloved husband of 49 years, Leonard, in both Kearny and Belmar NJ, and since 1985 has been a permanent resident of Ocala. During World War II she served as a Red Cross Nurse’s Aide and until her marriage in 1948 worked as assistant to the President of Lionel Trains in New Jersey. Her extensive community involvement included service as Past-President of the Women’s’ Club of Arlington NJ; Past-President Rotary Ann Club, Kearny NJ; Charter Member and Secretary, Bayley-Seton League of Seton Hall Prep, South Orange NJ; Member, Mother’s Club, Queen of Peace High School, North Arlington NJ; Member, St. Stephen’s Rosary Society, Kearny NJ; Lifetime Member & Officer, Catholic Daughters of America, Court Cecelia #811, Kearny NJ; Member, Women’s Auxiliary, West Hudson Hospital, Kearny NJ; Member, Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Ocala FL; Member, Ocala Christian Women’s Connection; Member, Blessed Trinity Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by her sister Marie “Mimi” Uricoli, Toms River, NJ; her dear children, son Leonard Balducci III, China, & daughter Lisa Balducci Brooks, Ocala; her beloved grandchildren Lora Brooks Iosa, Lane Brooks & Michael, Gina, and Che Balducci; her beloved great-granddaughters Addison and Harper Iosa; 16 nieces & nephews and numerous grand nieces & nephews.
