Helmick, Goldie Joann
Ocala - Goldie Joann Helmick, 86, passed away August 27, 2021. Joann as everyone called her was born November 7, 1934 in Lexington, NC, to the late Orville and Dora James and was raised in the small town of Welcome, North Carolina.  She lived on a farm with her parents and five siblings. She played basketball during her high school years. She married Bob and had her first son.  Bob was in the military so they moved several places.  A few years later she had another son. By this time they had settled back in North Carolina. Bob was a truck driver and Joann was a homemaker.  She then had a daughter.  They worked and raised their children. She became a widow at the age of 44.  She spent most of her years with her children and grandchildren.  She remarried in 2009 to Luther Helmick, he passed in 2011.  She lived with her granddaughter Amy until the end of her time. She was love dearly by her family and that is what she enjoyed most, also spending time at the beach or the mountains.

She is preceded in death by two husbands, Bob and Luther; son Dana, parents and five siblings.

She is survived by her son Bobby Larry Davis Jr. (Teri), daughter Carmella Ann Council (Wesley), granddaughter Amy McBride (Rob), granddaughter Heather McConnell (Tommy), grandson Dallas Council (Kati), granddaughter Angela Britten, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.
