Gussie Mae "Ann/Meme" Raines, 86, passed away on October 13,2018 at her daughter and son-in-laws home following her struggle with kidney and heart failure. She was born on May 9, 1932 in Newberry, South Carolina to John and Pearl (Berley) Reese.
Ann worked in a drug and shoe store before getting married. She married Albert on February 13, 1959.
In 1969 Ann and her family moved to Ocala where they joined The First Christian Church of Ocala. She was a homemaker, caretaker and ran a home daycare. She was an Elder of the Church and the Church Hostess, Wedding Director, Sunday School Teacher and helped with Baptism for many many years.
She is survived by son Albert, Jr "AB"; daughter Elizabeth Raines (Jorge); daughter in-law Linda Raines; granddaughters Sarah Raines Basler, Jamie Bunch, Pamela Dawson Rike; grandsons Mark Dawson, Zachary Raines, Jordan Raines; 11 great grandchildren; sisters Marion Spearman, Virginia (Wayne) Porter, Ruth (Bobby) Stoudemire, Peggy (Larry) Longshore, Carolyn Lancaster. She has many nieces, nephews,cousins and other family members she adored. Her loving husband Albert preceded her in 2008, and her son Kenneth, in 2014.
A memorial service with visitation will be held at First Christian Church on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 2 p.m. for visitation and viewing. The memorial service will be at 3 p.m. with Pastor Terry Harper officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Countryside Funeral Home, Anthony, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church of Ocala in her memory.
