WALDRON, Harold Norman
Citra - Harold Norman Waldron, 90, passed away at home on September 11, 2018 after a short illness. Born in Silver Creek, Nebraska on March 9, 1928 to Edgar and Daisy Kershaw Waldron. He moved to Citra, Florida 30 years ago from Long Beach, California after retiring.
Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Beverly and three children, Melissa, Scott, and Kyle; he is survived by his daughter, Lillian Waldron of Anthony, Florida; five grandchildren, Renee Andronczyk of Racine, Wisconsin; Margot Gilmore of Ocala, Florida; Aimee Touchet of Ocala, Florida; Michelle Lopez of Ocala, Florida; Amber Waldron of Scottsdale, Arizona; fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Harold was very proud of his military service as a Navy Seabee during World War II and loved to tell stories of his adventures while stationed in Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
He enjoyed bowling very much and at age 78 he retired from bowling with a 189 average. He used to say “not bad for an old man”!
He loved to tell stories about his life where in Nebraska as a kid he survived a lightning strike, in Illinois he would skip school to ride his bike into Chicago to watch the Cubs, and in Wyoming where he met his beautiful wife Beverly in a malt shop.
While living in Florida he became a diehard fantasy five lottery player. He would have to go to the store everyday to buy tickets.
He really enjoyed going to casinos in Tampa, Florida and Biloxi, Mississippi especially to play the video poker machines and most of the time was pretty lucky.
He also loved driving back to Nebraska for family reunions and while out west he would visit his great friends MaryAlice and Ronnie in Bullhead City, Arizona and they would drive over to Laughlin, Nevada for some more gambling fun.
