Harry Frederick Long

Harry Frederick (Fred) Long, age 77, of Ocala, Florida passed away on November 6, 2024. He was born on June 2, 1947 in Ocala, Florida. A son of Stephen and Etta Pearl Long.

He is preceded by; Brothers, Gerald Long, Ernest Long, Elbert Long, Floyd Long 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 43 years, Joyce Long, Son, Shaun (Valerie) Long, Daughter, Ava Hudish Brooks, Brother, William (Bill) Long, Sisters, Mary Neal, Ruby Blevins (Donald), Joyce McKeithen (Vann), and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Fred lived his whole life in Ocala. He served in the US Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He was a talented musician playing drums or guitar for many years in different country bands. He had a beautiful voice that everyone would say how much they loved to hear him sing. He loved his church and he also enjoyed Pole Vaulting in high school where he held a record for high jumping. He loved golfing, bowling, and fast pitch softball. He loved his family and would show it every day. There will never be another like Fred. He will be truly missed. 

A memorial service to celebrate his life has been scheduled for December 7, 2024 at Ocala Springs Baptist Church, 5000 NE 36th Ave Rd, Ocala, FL 34479 at 11:00 AM.
