Orange Springs - Howard George Matchett, 70, passed away August 20, 2021. He was born in Marion county, Fl on September 6, 1950 to the late Wilbur Francis Matchett and Wilma Marie Nelson. He was a commercial fisherman known for "Best Shiners Around." He loved hunting, fishing, watching Gator games and teaching his grandchildren the Country Way of Living.
He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Ralph Nelson and son Harley Matchett.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Matchett; daughter, Ashley Matchett (Tego); stepsons(whom he loved as his own) Derrick Collins (Tammy), Jeffery Collins, Jason Collins(Morgan); daughter-in-law, Celeste Lawrence; brothers, Hugh Matchett (Brenda), William Matchett (Pam); nephews, Marlon Matchett (Micah), Josh Matchet (Ashley) children Kaylyn, Hadley; Brother n laws; William A Thompson (Cindy), Carl Thompson(Kim); many nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Hailey, Jeffery, Jay, Devin, Cierra, Austin, Makayla, Dylan, Ayden, Emily, Mya, and Jase; one great-granddaughter, Kaylani. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
Memorial service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Countryside Funeral Home, Anthony, FL with Pastor David Houck officiating. Celebration of life to follow at Orange Springs Civic Center, Orange Springs, Fl.
