James "Jim" John Ressler, age 69, of Dunnellon, Florida, passed away on June 18, 2023 at Ocala Regional Medical Center after a valiant fight following a motorcycle accident on June 11th which was not his fault, Jim was an experienced rider of 54 years and did everything he could to avoid being hit.. He was born on March 8, 1954 in Albany, New York a son to the late John F. and Louise (Zitz) Ressler. He grew up in Hudson New York and attended St Mary’s Academy thru 1971 and graduated from Hudson High in 1972. He was an altar and choir boy and he was a Boy Scout. He also played the clarinet and saxophone.
He married Maureen Hartman on December 31, 1983. He had a passion for Harley Davidson and Indian Motorcycles and was a founding father of the Columbia County, New York chapter of ABATE, and a proud member of the NRA. He was also a member of the Old Time Power assoc.and the Antique Motorcycle assoc. in Hudson , NY . In 1989 he opened Tired Iron Motor Works in New York, after moving to FL in 2000 he opened his shop and continued doing what he loved. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 37 years (together 43 ) Maureen D. (Hartman) Ressler in August 6, 2021. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a sister Jane (Ressler)and brother-in-law Terry (who were more like brothers) Boyles, the son he never had, William (Emily) Lewter, sisters-in-law Linda Place and Dee Hartman, nieces and nephews, Peter Boyles, Christine Boyles, Crystal Perrott whom helped him at a time of need, Susan (Greg) Dunkle, nephew Charles (Melissa) Place, only two aunts and several cousins, Jim’s teenage bff Phil Bower, adopted grandchildren Autumn and Zakkery Lewter, and a dear friend Robyn Boyle. Jim was loved by so many and leaves behind many MC friends from NY to CO to AZ to Tx to NM and FL, RIP and enjoy your Ride In Paradise with Maureen. A Columbia County Abate Poker Run has been scheduled in honor of Jim in Ghent, NY on July 15, 2023, registrattion is at 10:00am at Whitestone Cafe and a Celebration of Life Service has been scheduled for September 9th @ 2PM at Crossroads Lodge,Lebanon Station, Pastor Grady Cross will be officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Judes, Boys Town, or Wounded Warriors.
