On the morning of Thursday, February 2, 2023, Jesus opened the door and James (Jim) Maynard walked off this earth and into the arms of Jesus in Heaven. Jim was born January 25, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Raymond and Charlotte (Christian) Maynard.
He moved to the Ocala area in the late 80s. He met and married the love of his life, Jan, here. He was a “retired” CCC truck driver who also held many other jobs in his life from pool maintenance to manufacturing.
James was a good man who loved his family and his God. He will be remembered for his kind and giving spirit, his humor, his love of elephants, cars and his appetite for food. He was always willing to lend a hand and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved to work on cars. He’d change your oil, fix your brakes or check your cars’ fluids if you asked or he thought you needed it. His appetite for food was bigger than he was (especially if it was pizza or Publix fried chicken). He seemed to always find his way to the front of any food line. He always felt his greatest achievement was getting some men from church together for a Friday night dinner while their wives were at the womens meeting.
He will be forever missed here on earth by so many people, but most especially by his loving wife, Janette “Jan” née Harris; his children and their spouses: Michael, Kristen (Charlie), Samantha (Jeremy), Kimberlee (Drew) and Scott (Kelly). His grandchildren: Charlie, Richard, Zack, Chase, Alysa, Mackenzie, James, Logan, Aidan, Julie, Jackson, Andy and Emmy as well as his sisters: Laurie and Bea (Carl). Also left to mourn the loss of his earthly body are his aunts Reva, Betty, Thelma (Dick), Sue (Gary) and uncle, Cay (Carol) along with several nieces, great nieces, nephew, great nephews and many many cousins. He was met in heaven by his father, mother, sister Erma and brother Lee.
