James L. “Jim” Boerstler, 72, passed away peacefully at home on December 4, 2016. Born June 27, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Robert W. and Helena K. Boerstler. He has been a Marion County resident for most of his life and worked as a contractor in the construction industry. Working the last 13 years of his working career for the Marion County Building Department as a building inspector for both residential and commercial structures. Jim had been a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church since March, 1949. He was ordained a deacon of the Church in June of 1996 and served both Blessed Trinity Parish in Ocala and the Mission of Christ the King Church in Citra. Deacon Jim also ministered to the sick and participated in the ministry to the prisoners of Marion Correctional Institute at Lowell. Jim was able to celebrate the Mass for the anniversary of his 20th year of ordination in June, 2016. Following that Mass he retired from public life due to ill health.
Jim is survived by his loving wife if 54 years, Lina (Thomas) Boerstler; daughter, Laura Stone (Jeff); three grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, William C. Boerstler, Alabama; sister, Jeanette Downs, Tennessee.
Visitation will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, December 8, 2016, from 6:30-8:30 P.M. at Blessed Trinity Church, 5 S. E. 17th Street, Ocala, Florida. Funeral will be held on Friday, December 9,2016, at 1:30 P.M. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 5 S. E. 17th Street, Ocala, Florida, with Bishop Noonan and Father Patrick Sheedy presiding.
Arrangements under the care of Countryside Funeral Home, Anthony, Florida. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent in the deacon’s name to Kindred Hospice, 1320 S. E. 25th Loop, Suite 101, Ocala, FL 34471, or Blessed Trinity Elder Care, 5 S. E. 17th St., Ocala, FL 34471.
