James 'Jim' Richard Kell, 95, passed away January 29th at his residence in Cotton Plant. He was born in St Louis, MO and moved to Ocala in 1981 from Miami.
Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a flight engineer for Eastern, Pan Am, and National Airlines. His lifelong passion was woodworking. Crafting everything from ink pens to furniture, but especially clocks, from mantle clocks to grandfather clocks, the hourly chiming from many clocks was a memorable experience. He had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. He was a longtime active member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Cotton Plant.
Jim is preceded in death by his first wife of 64 years, Jean Kell in 2007, and brothers Robert Kell and Rayford Kell. He is survived by his beloved wife Jolinda Jones Kell, sons Andrew Kell (Marie Hannigan) of Babson Park, FL, and Matthew Kell (Diane Bloch-Kell)of Gainesville, a step-daughter, Amy Higgins of Ocala, six step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday February 10th at 3:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home 9185 NE Jacksonville Rd, Anthony, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cure Alzheimer's Fund 34 Washington St., Suite 200 Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
