James "Louis" "Papa" Sykes, age 78, of Silver Springs, Fl., The man, the myth, the legend, passed away on August 15, 2022 at home. He was born on June 4, 1944 in Cross Creek, Fl a son to the late Elmont and Cleo (Gillis) Sykes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son of four months, James Heath Sykes and a sister Mary Alice Gaddis. He is fondly remembered as an avid hunter and fisherman. To his family and  friends he was a Legend and Truly Leaves Behind a Legacy.

Survivors include his loving wife Rita (Fritts), sons James ( Angel) Sykes, Jr. , Chad (Linda) Sykes, daughters Mandy (Russell) Culbertson, Melissa (Anthony) Donnan, Becky (Csaba) Kis-Ivan, Michelle (Curt) Haskins, Taosha Sykes (Todd), brother Don (Linda) Sykes, 26 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday August 19, 2022 at 1:00pm Countryside Funeral Home with visitation for one hour before.  Burial to follow in the Carlton Cemetery, Island Grove, Fl. Countryside Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Sykes.
