Janet M. Chaires

Janet M. Chaires, age 81, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on December 31, 2024. She was born on July 26, 1943, in Annapolis, Maryland a daughter of John and Marie Colburn. 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory; husband, Fred Chaires; sons, Phil Chaires and Mike Chaires. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. 

Mom grew up in Ocala and graduated from Ocala High School in 1961. She was beautiful, practical, and so much fun to be around. She loved unconditionally, and always found a way to tell you what you needed to hear, not just what you wanted to hear. She was efficient, hardworking, and never shied away from a tough job…..she could potty train a grandbaby like no other. She was a Mom and Nanna to so many, including aunts, uncles, stepchildren, daughters-in-law, neighbors as well as her own 2 boys. She taught us not to discriminate and to love others as you would love your own. She was our anchor, our compass, and a born-again Christian. We will miss her terribly and will honor her by telling her story, making her recipes, taking care of ourselves, our family and others that need a helping hand. 

Countryside Funeral Home has been entrusted with the cremation arrangements. 

The family is planning a celebration of life for her this summer.
