Janie Ruth Standridge Tompkins, 96 and 1 day, a 45 year resident of Salt Springs, Fl. Passed away at her home on April 10, 2020. Born in Greenville, Florida on April 9, 1924, she was the 7th of 9 children born to Pop and Big Mama Standridge.
She was a bookkeeper and homemaker.
Mrs Tompkins was preceded in death in 1987, by her husband Bill Tompkins Sr. and all her five brothers, Williard, James, Julian, Harold, Jack and three sisters, Mattie Pearl, Mary Emily and most recently her traveling partner and sister Joy Smith.
She is survived by her sons, Tom Tompkins of Salt Springs, Bill Tompkins (Nancy) of Knoxville, TN, John Tompkins of Salt Springs; one grandson, Christopher Tompkins of Seattle, Washington; two embraced great grandchildren, Caleb and Haillie Moore of Salt Springs. Janie is also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially her niece Cheri in Williston, Fl. She had many friends. She loved to talk to her friends, especially the friends she called her Macclenny, Florida family.
Family was most important to her. She loved traveling with her sister, fishing and eating crabs and shrimp.
Mrs. Tompkins was of Catholic faith, but worshiped at the Salt Springs Christian Church the past 40 plus years.
Graveside services will be held at the Salt Springs Christian Church Cemetery on Tuesday April 14, 2020. Viewing will at 9:30 a.m. and Service at 10:00 a.m.
