ANTHONY, FLORIDA – The life of Jeannette Harvey Casler , 88, came to an end on December 31, 2024 in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family, exactly as she wished.
Jeannette was born February 4, 1936 in Washington, VT to George and Marie Louise Sylvain Soucy. She was the 4 th of 6 children who helped run a dairy farm when not attending school. Although the shortest on the team, her team was blessed with an undefeated basketball season one year.
It was during those years she met Marvin Harvey. They later married, and Jeannette found her new home on the T. S. Harvey Farm in Rochester. She raised her 4 children, pitched in at sugaring time, and was always busy with crafting, homemaking and attending school activities. Jeannette was also active in the church all through her life. When time allowed, Jeannette enjoyed traveling the country and the world, and visiting family members often, to keep the ties that bind. Jeannette valued honesty, humility and honor.
After raising her children, Jeannette embarked on a new life in Florida, where she met and married her second husband, Jake Casler. Jeannette worked at Scotty’s Building Supply, and she later headed the Garden Dept. at Lowes Home Center in Ocala. After retiring, she volunteered at the gift shop at Advent Health Hospital.
She leaves behind her husband, Jake; her children Raymond Harvey (Cheryl), Dianne McDonald, Jackie Harvey and David Harvey (Patty); her seven grandchildren, Steven McGuffin, Allison McDonald, Jeffrey Lokatys, Dillon Dudley, Jessica Arsenault, Adam Blair and Sarah Durant; and her great grandchildren, Mackenna, Lancer, Aiden, Addison, Colbie, Quinn, Grey and Gavin. Jeannette is also survived by her sisters, Pauline Hebert and Anita Busque, and her brother Armand Soucy.
She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Theresa and Fernande, her son-in-law Skip McDonald, and a beloved grandson, Alex McDonald.
Burial service will be announced for the spring of 2025. The family is grateful for the empathetic care and support of Gentiva Hospice. Donations in Jeannette’s honor can be sent to Gentiva Hospice, 1320 SE 25 th Loop, Suite # 101, Ocala, FL 34471.
