Ocala – John LeRoy Derr, Sr., passed away at Estelle’s House on January 12, 2016. Born January 19, 1936, in Catawissa, PA, to Fred and Elsie Derr, he moved to Ocala in 1964 from Savannah, GA. A veteran of the US Air Force, he was a Drapery Installer.
Preceded in death by his wife, Jean Warnock Derr; brother, Fred Derr; and sister, Anna Mae Derr Seltzer.
John is survived by his son, John L. (Jean) Derr, Jr., Citra; daughter, Jackie (Danny) Gomillion, Ocala; brothers, Larry Derr, Satellite Beach; Donald Derr, Enola, PA; grandchildren, John Lycan, Danielle Skinner, Lily Derr; great-granchildren, Savannah Smith, Hailey Smith, Alyssa Skinner and Kyndal Lycan.
Memorial service will be 1:00 pm., Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Countryside Funeral Home, 9185 NE Jacksonville Rd., Anthony, with Rev. Samuel Clements officiating. Interment with honors will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Ocala. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County designated to “Butterfly for John Derr” PO Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478.
