On Tuesday, July 13th, 2021, John A. Giehl lost his heroic battle with cancer at age 79. John was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 19th, 1942, and raised by his parents, Sybil Dix Moore and Walter Moore. In 1960, he enlisted in the Navy, serving during the Vietnam War, and subsequently went on to serve in the Coast Guard for 15 years, rising to the rank of CWO-3. After retiring from the Coast Guard in 1984, John moved to Ocala, Florida and started working at Lockheed Martin. He retired from Lockheed in 1998, enjoying a life of golfing, cheering for the San Francisco 49ers, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
John was predeceased by his mother, Sybil Dix Moore; his father, Walter Moore; his brother, Gerry Giehl; and his daughter, Valerie Paul.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Giehl; his sister-in-law, Margaret Giehl; his three daughters Vanessa Kaleiwahea, Mallory Giehl (Lilith Specht), and Jennifer Giehl (Chad Staubach), as well as his five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on July 22nd at 3 PM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell located at 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
