John W. Mize, Jr.

Ocala, FL - John W. "Johnny" Mize, Jr., 85, of 201 Locust Pass Crse, passed away December 24, 2019, at Ocala Health and Rehab Center under the loving care of his family, friends, Ocala Health Staff and Hospice of Kindred. Born Feb 22, 1934 in Watertown, New York. The son of John W. and Doris (Simmons) Mize. John attended school in Theresa, New York, graduated from Black River High School, enlisted in the Navy for 4 years, then went on to further his education and graduated from Watertown School of Commerce. He spent many years working with the U.S. Government. Then became a proprietor of Kim-OI-INN Evans Mills N.Y. Then the Varsity Inn where the locals enjoyed his happy face behind the bar. John and Mary (Lawton) Mize married Nov 12, 2001 in Ocala, FL after several years of companionship.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, Scott, granddaughter, Jordyn, KY; Dale (and wife Wendy); granddaughter, Alexa Grace, TN; sister, Trudy Osterhout, Jane Yon, Theresa, NY; brother, Jim, North Richland Hills, TX; and several nieces and nephews. His mother and father died before him.

There will be a Celebration of life gathering this spring at the Evans Mills Fire Hall at a later date.
