John "Captain" Terhaar
June 30, 1946 — February 5, 2017
Ocala - John G. "Captain Jack" TerHaar, 70, passed away suddenly on February 5, 2017. Born in Rochester, NY on June 30, 1946 to Raymond TerHaar, Sr. and Gladys S. TerHaar. He was a life long entrepeneur/restaurantuer known for The Pizza Factory and most recently Better Beer.
Captain is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia TerHaar; son, Michael TerHaar (Susan); daughters, Marta TerHaar (Clyde Tennant), Melissa Koerner ( Patricia Garrow), Michele Farrell (Daniel). He had one granddaughter, Victoria and seven grandsons, Zackery, Mitchell, Brady, Ryan, Andrew, Brandon and Christopher. Also survived by 2 nieces, 2 nephews and extended family.
His life was driven by a need to help others and to always leave you laughing. He relished life through membership in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Humbolt Lodge #138, cherished memories with family and friends at Goose Bay, Thousand Islands, Indianapolis 500, and snow birding in Ocala FL.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mary Cariola Children's Center, 1000 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, NY 14620. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude for the outstanding medical care he received in the last years of his life with a special hug to Rina Infantino, Dr. Gina Cuyler, Dr. Adel Solimon and Dr. Sai Redy.
A celebration of his life is planned for April 29, 2017 at the Humbolt Lodge, 412 Ballantyne Rd Chili, NY 14623 from1-4PM.
