Mr. Johnny Frye passed away on August 3, 2024, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 75, after complications due to a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Mr. Frye was in the care of Hospice House of Marion County at the time of his death and passed comfortably in his sleep. Born on June 24, 1949, in Greenville, South Carolina, Johnny was a spirited soul known for his loving, kind and humorous nature. A man of deep faith in God, he dedicated his life to forming lasting friendships and was always ready with a funny joke or an engaging story.
Mr. Johnny Frye proudly served in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge. His dedication to service was paralleled by his commitment to his career in the textiles and machinery industry in Greenville and surrounding areas in South Carolina, where he worked until his retirement.
In his later years, Johnny became a cherished member of the community at Silver Springs RV Park, in Silver Springs, Florida where he enjoyed making new friends and sharing laughter. His interests included spreading joy and humor to all his beloved family and friends, which he continued to do enthusiastically until his final days.
Mr. Johnny Frye leaves behind a loving family: his beloved daughter, Tammy Durst; son-in-law, Dennis Durst; precious granddaughters, Hailee Durst and Nikkie Durst; beloved sisters, Linda Swaim (Randy, deceased), Sandy King (Robert), Pat Benjamin (Tim), and Vickie Davis (Clyde); along with six nephews and four nieces. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Louise (Wilbanks) Hudson; brothers, Thomas Darrell Hudson, and Charles Frye; and was widowed twice.
In accordance with Mr. Johnny's final wishes, he was cremated, and in a private family ceremony, his ashes will be spread in the mountains of South Carolina. Johnny’s life was marked by dedication to family, faith, friendships, career, and country and will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
As we mourn the loss of Johnny Frye, we celebrate a life lived with profound gratitude, respect for all of God’s creation, and a humble heart. His legacy of love, generosity, kindness, humor, and faithfulness will continue to inspire and guide us. Until we meet again, Daddy, you are deeply loved, missed, and eternally remembered by all who were blessed to know you.
