Joyce Cannon

Ocala, FL - Ruby Joyce Williams Cannon, 91, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on June 27th, 2024.

Joyce was born September 25, 1932 in Omega, GA. She was the daughter of the late Clayton and Mamie Tucker Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Daniel C Cannon II, one daughter, Joyce Ann Cannon Priest, two brothers, Clayton Williams Jr., Donald Williams, and great granddaughter, Audrey Tingler.  

Joyce was a member of Anthony Baptist Church, a retired Marion County School Teacher since 1983 and an Ambassador at Hampton Manor Deerwood Assisted Living. She graduated from Frostproof High School Class of 1950 and from the University of Florida with honors in 1983. 

Joyce is survived by one daughter, Cheryll Darlene Cannon, two sons, Daniel C. Cannon III, (Paula), Williams Robert Cannon (Lori), son-in-law, Douglas L. Priest. Joyce leaves behind seven grandchildren, Leslie Ann Munden (Travis), Bryan Cannon (Kendra), Kelly Tingler (Jim), Clay Priest (Andrea), Daniel Cannon, Katherine Cannon (Mitchell), Rebecca Cannon (Fiancé Justin); six great grandchildren, Raegan, Jordyn, Allyson, Stella, Anna Lynn, Grant, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Joyce will be held at Anthony Baptist Church on July 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverends Dave Wallace and Wayne Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Anthony Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Countryside Funeral Home of Anthony, FL is in charge of the arrangements.

The family would like to thank Lauren Clark from Genitive Hospice for her special love and care. Also a special appreciation to the staff of Hampton Manor Deerwood Assisted Living who took such good care of her for the last 4+ years of her life.
