Joyce R Crosby

Joyce R. Crosby, age 91, of Citra, Florida passed away on November 6, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on September 28, 1932 in Algona, Iowa a daughter to the late Frank and Rowena B. (McWhorter) Ryerson. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by husband William J. (W.J.) Crosby, brother Kent Ryerson and sister-in-law Grace Ryerson.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory four daughters Jill (Tommy) Ellis, Laurie (Billy) Ward, Annie (Stanton) West, and Mary Lynn (Kitch) Smith, nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Daniel, Michael, Tyler, Hunter, Ashley, Luke, Jessica, Victoria, seventeen great grandchildren, Jacob, Jona, Katelyn, Kaleb, Kinsley, Robert, Elias, Cohen, Tate, Lily, Lana, Wyatt, Roman, Olivia, Adeline, Georgia-Ann, Case and many nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart.

 

Joyce graduated from Simpson College, in Indianola Iowa in 1953.  She arrived in Citra, Florida shortly thereafter as a US2 Missionary with the United Methodist Church.  She met, fell in love and married W.J. Crosby, and decided he was a good enough reason to stay in Florida.  She led choirs at various churches, where she has been actively participating her entire life. She loved to sing, and would convince any and all to join her. She had worked as a teacher and social worker.  She counted those she worked with as family, and prayed vigilantly.  If you knew her or were even connected in some way to someone she loved, she likely prayed for you too.  She had a spectacular sense of humor, and will be missed by so many.  We all know that she is in Heaven and with Jesus.  It was her sincere desire that everyone she met know Jesus, so that we can spend eternity together.  In a nutshell, she loved...and was loved.
