Koah Pelletier

March 7, 1993 — January 16, 2017

PELLETIER, Koah

Reddick - Koah Pelletier, 23, passed away January 16, 2017.  Born in Prescott, Arizona on March 7, 1993 to Daneya Pelletier.  She moved to Reddick, FL 11 years ago from Lompoc, CA. She attended Northwest Marion High School, Citra, FL and then Aveda Institute Winter Park, FL.

When Koah was 3 her family moved from Prescott, AZ to Mancos, CO where they lived for 8 years. She enjoyed camping, played soccer and got her first love her pony Canyon. Then moved to Lompoc, CA for just a year from 2004-2005 to which the family than moved to Reddick, FL in April of 2005. Koah attained her Full Spa Specialist license in 2012 and worked at various salons throughout Orlando and North Central Florida.

She had a wild soul and a gypsy heart. Unique in every way she spent her short time on Earth never apologizing for who she was. A yogini and an avid reader of everything from Harry Potter to Nietzsche. Koah was a seeker of her own truth and not bound by the common formalities of the World. Hysterically funny she could find a joke (usually wildly inappropriate) in anything and her laughter was contagious. Her heart knew no boundaries her biggest love for her “Sissy” (little sister) and her family, her bestie's Nikki Guible and Kalie Stelogeannis and countless other friends meant everything to her. She was a fierce proponent of LGBT rights and was a loud and proud self per claimed feminist.

With all this beauty there also came deep empathy, immense emotional pain, sadness and inner chaos where she could not maintain her balance and center. This led her to self-medicate in order to numb the pain and severe anxiety. She spent years battling her illness and many times she thought that she had overcome it. The illness of addiction eventually took her from us by an accidental overdose.

She is survived by her mother, Daneya Pelletier-Mitchell, father Larry Mitchell of Reddick FL; sister Maya Mitchell of Reddick, FL; brother, Brady Horne of Windsor, Nova Scotia; grandmother, Nibbana Pelletier of Reddick FL; grandparents Robert & Claire Brown of Halifax, Nova Scotia; aunts, Brenda Hatfield, Brenda VanDerToorn, Lynn Bennett and Bonnie Solis; uncles Alan Horne and Darren Horne; aunt Cindy Cassidy, Nana Betty Mackey her amazing friends, and birth father Brad Horne. Meeting her and guiding her back to source were her Great Grandmother, Inez Davidson, “Ema” Sandra Mitchell, Grandfather David Pelletier, Great Grandfather Porter Mackey and many other loved ones.
