Our dear, sweet Mother, Margaret Baisden Adair, was carried by angels to her heavenly home, Sunday, September 3, 2017. Her family was standing around her as she took her flight. Mother’s life was such a great example for her children to follow. She loved unconditionally and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Mother is predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Elder Tommy Adair, Sr. She was baptized at the Sardis Church of Old Regular Baptist in Delbarton, WV in 1939. Later they moved to Florida where Elder Tommy Adair Sr. was Pastor of the Southern Home Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to being a loving mother and a diligent worker in the Church for 78 years, she worked outside the home as a retail associate for many years and retired from Belk Lindsey Department Store in 1980.
Mother was born to Ethel and Boyd Baisden, September 26, 1920, at Twelve Pole, WV. She was predeceased by her parents, eight brothers and six sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Boyd Baisden, Jr. and wife, Alfreda of Sandyville, WV; two sisters, Effie Carey and husband Frank of Elk Creek WV, and Betty Varney of Ona, WV; one sister-in-law, Lillie Lou Baisden of Delbarton, WV; and one brother-in-law, Melvin Mahorn of Ravenswood, WV. She also leaves many nieces and nephews who love her dearly.
She is predeceased by one infant son, Otis, and one daughter, Ima Jean Watts, husband Jake Taylor Watts and son-in-law, Charles Jarrell. She also leaves to cherish a lifetime of precious memories, six daughters: Rebecca Jarrell, Ethel Adair, Judy Young and husband Earnest, Erma Youmans and husband Edward, Lola Campbell and husband Stanley, and Mary Paisley; two sons, Tommy Adair, Jr., and wife Karen, and William Adair, Sr. and wife Colleen, all of Marion County, Florida.
She was predeceased by 3 of her grandchildren: Earnest Young Jr., Walter Gilley, Jr., and Angela Gilley. Mother leaves 24 grandchildren to remember all the precious moments she spent with them. It’s difficult to imagine how each had a very personal relationship with their sweet grandmother, but that’s how loving and patient she was. Momaw also had 44 great grandchildren and 20 great, great grandchildren and knew each one of them in a personal way.
Some of our fondest memories of Mother was hearing her singing hymns as she worked in her kitchen. Time and words would fail us to write all the beautiful attributes of our Mother. We know someday we will meet her in that beautiful home where we’ll all be happy forever.
