Margaret  Jean (Peggie) Wilson, 74, passed away after a brief illness May 22, 2016 at the Brandley Hospice House in Summerfield.
Born November 27, 1941 in Long Island, NY to Oliver LeRoy and Margaret Baker Carpenter, her family moved to Astor FL in 1945 and she attended school in Umatilla. Her family then moved to Ocala in 1959 where Mrs. Wilson graduated from Ocala High School.  She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Wilson and her husband, Paul E. Wilson Jr. moved to Tallahassee after their marriage where he pursued a degree in Accounting at Florida State University, and they returned to Ocala to raise their two sons, Paul and Cory Wilson.
An avid gardener, Mrs. Wilson was twice president of the Pioneer Garden Club of Ocala, where she also served in other offices, and was a founding member of the Brick City Garden Club of Ocala, where she also served as President and in other offices.
Her love was horticulture, but she learned artistic design techniques and became a nationally accredited Flower Show Judge. She was a Life Member of both Pioneer and Brick City Garden Clubs and of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs.
She had served as a member of the Marion County Parks Advisory Board and a volunteer at the Silver River Museum in the Silver Springs State Park.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her beloved husband, Paul E. Wilson Jr., sons Paul E. (Sandy) Wilson III of Williston, and Cory (Adina) Wilson of Ocala, two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Hayden; a brother Oliver LeRoy (June) Carpenter Jr. of Lakeland; two nieces, Danielle and Blythe; her step-mother, Louise Carpenter of Ocala; and her four-legged grandchildren, Summer, Piper, Scarlet, Nashville, Riker, Ripley, Neelix, Geordie, and Scully.
A memorial service for Mrs. Wilson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Countryside Funeral Home, Anthony, FL with The Rev. David Sokol, Rector of St. Martin’s Anglican Church of Ocala, officiating.
