Martha Elizabeth Pitts Watts

Our world lost a shining beacon of joy on January 21, 2018 when Martha Elizabeth Pitts Watts, age 69, passed away at Hospice Legacy House and went to join her Lord in Heaven.

Born October 10, 1948, to Joseph Lynnfield Pitts and Madge Elizabeth Peden Pitts, she was a longtime resident of Clarksdale, MS.

Martha graduated from the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.  She was a flight attendant with Delta Airlines for 32 years, spreading love and happiness wherever she traveled.   She resided in Georgia throughout her time with Delta Airlines.  She was a longtime member of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone, and an active member of Southcrest Church in Newnan.  She was an active participant in Walk to Emmaus and a Lay Leader for Chrysalis Flight 17.

Martha was a champion for Christian worship and lived to study the word of God.   She had the heart of servant, a contagious smile, and never met a stranger.   She will be remembered for her outgoing personality and her zest for life.   She led an active lifestyle, and enjoyed swimming, walking, running, biking.  She loved the water, most especially the beach.  Martha fought the fight of her life battling cancer.   She is at peace now and in her own words: “I know where I am going," now spreading joy and love with her heavenly Father.

Preceding her in death are her parents; Joseph Lynnfield (Lynn) Pitts and Madge Elizabeth Peden Pitts.  She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of thirty three years, James Watts, a brother, Brian Pitts (Allison) of Brentwood, TN and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Countryside Funeral Home, in Anthony, FL, with Ray Evans officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
